DMARC p=none vs Quarantine vs Reject
How to choose a DMARC policy from the reports you have, not from a checklist that skips the senders you forgot.
The difference between DMARC policies is what you ask receivers to do with mail that fails alignment. none means monitor. quarantine means treat as suspicious. reject means do not deliver. None of the three improves a message people mark as spam. They only tell receivers how to treat mail that is not you, or mail that is you and misconfigured.
Choose by evidence. If the latest aggregate reports still show a legitimate source failing, you are not ready for reject. If every source you recognise passes, and the failures are sources you do not operate, a stronger policy is what the record is for.
A practical order
Publish p=none with a mailbox that can receive reports. Leave it there until you can name every source. Fix or remove the ones that fail. Then move to quarantine if you want a softer landing while you watch. Reject is for a domain whose senders you actually control.
Outreach on a domain at p=none is not 'unsafe DMARC'. It is unfinished inventory. Sendblox can still draft. The risk is the unknown sender, not the adjective in the policy.
Before you publish a change for DMARC policy, write down the date, the record you edited, and the one message you used as a test. A week later, check whether that test still matches production. Provider rules, DNS includes, and CRM fields all move. A page that was true in general can be wrong on your domain if nobody looked again. Keep the send small until that check is dull. One contact, one objective, a person reading the draft. If the test fails, stop the campaign. Do not widen it to see whether a larger list forgives a broken setup.
